Forney Education Leadership Foundation
The Forney Education Leadership Foundation is a 501 (c3) nonprofit, taxexempt, philanthropic organization, which was created in 2003 by six visionary business leaders and formalized in 2004. By 2008, the foundation had grown to more than $500,000.
The purpose of the Foundation is to award each Forney ISD high school graduating senior, whom applies, with a $500 scholarship toward continuing education - whether vocational, technical, community college or university.
Ultimately, the goal of the Foundation’s Board of Directors is to endow the scholarship program for all graduating Forney ISD high school seniors that will outlive all of those currently serving on the Board.
All Forney ISD graduates are eligible for the scholarship, provided they have completed a minimum of nine months of education in a Forney ISD high school prior to graduation. The scholarship pays $50 each semester, (fall and spring) for the first two years and $75 each semester for the last two years. Students are required to take a minimum 12 hours each semester and maintain a 2.0 GPA each semester.
To apply for a semester scholarship payment, students must submit a schedule of classes, along with their name, address and a contact phone number. All students are required to maintain a 2.0 GPA throughout the continuing education process to continue to receive the Forney Education Leadership Foundation’s Scholarship.
Beginning in the fall of 2007, the Foundation created the Educational Grant Program for FISD teachers, administrators and staff to recognize and support innovative instructional programs which will positively impact Forney ISD students. As of 2012, the Foundation had awarded more than $200,000 to grant recipients to fund programs for their classrooms.
